A small friendly pub in the beautiful cobbled village of Grapenhall, great food and drink. Stop by Grappenhall bridge, head over the bridge approx 200m on the right,  great spot of lunch if you have been to Preston Brook in the morning. If you plan to stop here for a dink on the way back form Lymm please ensure you allow at least an hour, as it can take this long by the time you have stopped, moored up, locked up, walked there had a drink and done it all in reverse!

The barn owl is one of the pubs most visited by our dayboat, serves great food and beer, located right on the side of the canal.  some times you have to double moor if wizard is going there, but don't worry they will help you.  We always recommend you book as it can get busy and trying to fit a boat full in can be a struggle

Ye old no 3 is just a stones throw from the canal and serves great food and a roaring fire during the colder months, it is also one of the most visited pub by our dayboats.  If you have kids it has a beer garden with a play area to let them burn off some energy! It has a large mooring area but there is a water point there please do not more next to it as boats need to get in to top up regularly.

The Swan With Two Nicks

The Swan is another jewel of a pub located near the canal on the side of the river Bollin over looking Dunham Massey Hall.

We definitely recommend you book, give them a call and maybe book your food as well as it can be a bit of a rush as you will only get 1 - 1.5 hours to eat here!  All the food is home cooked so can take a little longer than a pub that is part of a big chain.

Distance from Thorn Marine 3 hours+ 10-15 Min walk each way!

Dunham Massy hall is about a 10 Min walk from the canal, just enough time for a quick visit round the gardens.

A garden for all seasons, an ancient deer park and a house filled with treasures and stories

Welcome to Dunham Massey. Encircled by its protective wall, Dunham Massey is a green oasis nestled between the urban sprawl of Manchester and rural tranquility of Cheshire.

A ramble around the park will reveal a range of architectural oddities and views of the house complete with Dunham’s resident herd of fallow deer; you may also glimpse other wildlife including owls and woodpeckers. Enjoy a guided walk of the deer park, or take the chance to wrap up warm and wander freely amongst groves of ancient trees.
